SCF Junior Council 2015

The Singapore Chess Federation (SCF) had formed the first SCF Junior Council in 2014, run by juniors, in a bid to have them great involved in the local chess scene, while at the same time, develop future leaders in our chess community.

Members of the Junior Council shall:

  1. Assist the SCF EXCO on chess matters while gaining insights on issues that may arise and affect chess activities of Secondary Schools & Junior Colleges in Singapore during the course of EXCO duties.
  2. Develop leadership and management skills through supporting SCF chess programmes. (E.g. tournaments and outreach chess workshop/talks)
  3. Nurture independence and responsibility by providing commitment in the execution of proposals brought up by the Junior Club Council.
  4. Identify factors causing the decline of chess playing among students of the Secondary & Tertiary levels and to propose suggestions to enhance and spur chess playing in Singapore.
  5. Develop creative thinking skills through the development and execution of national proposals and initiatives to further stimulate the interest of chess playing among schools in Singapore.
