1. INTRODUCTION
With effect from 1 January 2015, Singapore Chess Federation (SCF) requires that all Chess Trainers must be accredited trainer by SCF in order to provide any form of Chess training in Singapore.
SCF strongly recommends that all schools hire SCF accredited trainers for their CCA activities in order to participate in official schools competitions (National Schools Individuals, the National Inter-School Team Championships and other similar scholastic competitions) organised by SCF.
Students/Teacher In-Charge must attend a 2-hour Technical Seminar at their own cost if the chess trainer employed/hired by the school is not accredited by SCF.
Participating students from schools without any trainer are also required to attend the Technical Seminar prior to such events mentioned above.
The Trainer Accreditation Seminar is to create awareness on tournament rules, Laws of Chess and any other matters related to competitions. Certificates will be awarded to those students/teachers who pass the simple test at the end of the Seminars. The certificate shall be valid until 2019.
2. ACCREDITATION TITLES
SCF Accreditation is mandatory even for those who already hold FIDE titles (FT, FI, NI, DI). The SCF Accredited titles are valid until 2019 and renewal every 4 years henceforth. Nevertheless, anyone may attend to upgrade their levels.
SCF – NT1 (National Trainer Class 1): 90% score in seminar/examination; attained FIDE Rating 2400+
SCF – NT2 (National Trainer Class 2): 80% score in seminar/examination; attained FIDE Rating 2000+
SCF – NT3 (National Trainer Class 3): 70% score in seminar/examination; attained FIDE Rating 1600+
SCF – NT4 (National Trainer Class 4): 60% score in seminar/examination; unrated
3. AGE LIMIT
Only those who have reached the age of 18 shall be eligible for SCF Accreditation.
