At the recently concluded World Youth U-16 Chess Olympiad, our young Lions and Lioness ended in 27th position from a starting rank of 33 out of 57 participating teams. With an average rating of 1999, the team fought bravely against tough opponents and ended up with four wins and a draw out of nine matches. The team had notable victories which included the 3.5-0.5 win over the host country's top team (Slovakia 1 with an average rating of 2247) in the 8th round, as well as the 3-1 victory over Denmark (average rating 2231) who eventually ended up in 10th position.
Also bringing pride to the nation is the sparkling performance of Lee Jun Wei who won ALL seven games he played with an incredible performance rating of 2817, receiving the Gold medal for Board 4.

A total of 40 countries will be participating in the World Youth U-16 Chess Olympiad 2016 held at Poprad – Tatry, Slovakia from 21 Jul to 30 Jul 2016.
The Singapore team will be represented by the following players:

The World Youth U-16 Chess Olympiad will be held at Poprad-Tatry, Slovakia from 21 Jul to 30 Jul 2016.
All participants are expected to have read and understood the Rules & Regulations of the World Youth U-16 Chess Olympiad 2016.
