Elementary
This course is ideal for trainees who have just successfully completed our beginner classes. Trainees can expect to strengthen their understanding of basic endgames, checkmates and tactical motifs. They will also progress to slightly more advanced content such as combinations and basic calculation techniques.
Please note that students will undergo an assessment during the last lesson. Students shall be promoted to the next level (Intermediate) if they pass this assessment.
Course Format: 8 x Theory Lessons
Course Fees: $305.20 (including GST)

- Slots Given are on a FIRST COME-FIRST SERVE basis OR BY CLOSING DATE whichever comes first
- Payment via HitPay using Paynow at checkout.
- Confirmation of registration is subjected to full course fee payment
- Course fees paid are Non-refundable. Pro-rating of course fees is not allowed
- Trainers assigned by SCF may be subject to changes
- There will be no make up classes
- SCF reserves the right to accept/reject any trainees without assigning any reason

We’re delighted that your child has shown interest in chess! New students with experience may book a chess evaluation with our coaches to assign them to the correct level. Click here
What's different about lessons at the Singapore Chess Federation?
We’re glad you asked! The Singapore Chess Federation is the governing body of Chess in Singapore. Our classes are taught by FIDE trainers and coaches, using a curated lesson plan to holistically develop a player’s chess skills.
How is the progression like for students?
We strive to match students in a similar class of similar skill. Generally a player may be legible for promotion to the next level based on their performance in the previous course.
Do you offer adult chess courses?
We welcome everyone to play chess! While our main demographic is between 6 – 14 years old, our classes are open to anyone that wishes to take them. Beyond our classes we also provide support for parachess and other underserved communities, if this interests you, you can reach out to us!
