Chess is a fun and highly beneficial sport for everyone, whether you are a recreational player who learnt the game after watching the Queen’s Gambit, or a competitive young player who dreams of becoming a Grandmaster. On this page, we showcase all the recent media coverage about chess, and we hope this provides you with insights of chess as a sport, the local chess scene and the Singapore Chess Community.

On 15th September, the Singapore Chess Federation, WGM Gong Qianyun and GM Tin Jingyao were featured on 晨光第一线 (Morning Express) on Channel 8. The segment covered the journeys of Qianyun and Jingyao, what it takes to be an elite athlete, and also featured SGChessHub@Jurong Spring, a community effort to grow chess at the grassroots level.

Here is a short clip where you can have a glimpse into the lives of Qianyun and Jingyao, and see why chess is a great sport for young children and adults. For the full segment, please visit https://www.mewatch.sg/watch/Sep-2023-Morning-Express-403553
