The Singapore Chess Federation is pleased to intro

The Singapore Chess Federation is pleased to introduce the first of many trainer certification courses - introductory level. If you are an aspiring chess coach or a school teacher who is responsible for the school’s chess CCA, or someone who wishes to set up a new chess club in schools, this course will be ideal to prepare you with the essential tools to begin your teaching or training career in chess.
This programme is led by SCF Training Director FIDE Senior Trainer, Grandmaster Thomas Luther aided by the SCF team of trainers. The team will be able to share its rich experience working with thousands of children in Singapore over a span of 15 years.
A follow up SCF advanced trainer certification course will be announced and launched in the second half of the year. Participants who successfully passed these courses will enjoy the following:
SCF Certification
An SCF trainers license effective for 2 years. This license shall be recognised by the MOE as a requirement for chess coaching jobs in schools
Listing on the SCF website as an SCF endorsed trainer or teacher
Participants of this introductory course will enjoy a 50% discount for 1 subsequent trainer courses

Registration for the SCF June Invitational is now open!

A 7 round, FIDE rated, match to prepare and level up our athletes competing in various tournaments.

Entry fees are waived for NTP members who are participating in international tournaments in June-July 2025.

Non NTP members registered to play in World Cup (Batumi), ASEAN Age Group (Penang) or Eastern Asia Youth (Zhuhai) will also enjoy discounted rates.

Deadline for registration is Saturday, 31 May 2025 23:59.

Local chess grandmaster Tin Jingyao continues to i

Local chess grandmaster Tin Jingyao continues to impress with his stellar performance in the Asian Zone 3.3 Championships clinching the win and breaking the 2600 barrier!

Jingyao first played in the zone championships in 2011, when he was just 10 years old. He is an example of the results of hard work put into competing and we encourage all aspiring players to aim to play and represent Singapore as well.

Alongside Jingyao, in the foray, were also GM Siddharth and WCM Sreekarthika. Together with coach GM Andrey Kvon they took on the playing field and gained valuable experience from it, a key part of competing.

Ms Alexandra Obolentseva

SCF National Chess Coach

Woman Grandmaster

Alexandra is an excellent player of the game of chess, holding the title of Woman Grandmaster. She has also obtained 3 International Master norms since 2018. Alexandra has many achievements in the world of chess. She was the gold medalist for the Youth World Championship G10 in 2011, and won the silver medal for the Youth World Championship G18 in 2016 and in 2018, and a bronze medal in 2019. Alexandra has also represented Russia in the World Youth U16 Chess Olympiad, winning the silver medal in 2016, and the gold medal in 2017. Another impressive accomplishment she has made was winning gold with SC Bad Königshofen in the 2018/2019 and 2019/2021 editions of Frauen-Bundesliga. In May of 2023, Alexandra clinched the gold medal, together with the Moscow Chess Team, in the Russian Women’s Team Championship.
