Background
Pesta Sukan is a premier sporting festival that promotes community engagement and celebrates the diversity of sports in the lead-up to National Day. The Singapore Chess Federation is pleased to partner with SportSG to reintroduce chess to this iconic event—honouring tradition while championing strategic excellence in a dynamic, collaborative setting.
Schedule
- Registration Closing Date: 30 June 2025, by 06.00pm.
- The tournaments shall be played under the FIDE Laws of Chess (Blitz and Rapid respectively)
- There are two separate events with respective schedules below
- The following are the tentative schedules for the events. The organiser reserves the right to amend dates and time if necessary.

Time Control
- Blitz: 3 mins + 2 seconds increment from move 1
- Rapid: 15 mins + 10 seconds increment from move 1
- Both events are FIDE Rated
- Default time for both events is when the clock runs to zero.
Playing Venue

- All rounds will start promptly in accordance with the schedule.
Tie Break
Tie breaks for Rapid and Blitz are based on the following in successive order:
- Direct Encounter
- Buccholz Cut 1
- Buchholz
- Sonnenborn Berger
- Cumulative system – Sum of Progressive Scores (Sum of Progressive Scores:
- After each round a player has a certain tournament score. These scores are added to determine the total Sum of Progressive Score)
Resolution
- SCF shall appoint all arbiters for the events, including the Match and Chief Arbiters.
- All disputes are ruled by the Match Arbiter(s).
- Appeals to the decision shall be made to the Chief Arbiter, whose decision shall be final.
- No further correspondence shall be entertained.
Registration & Prizes
Registration fees are as follows:
Open – $15 ($16.45 GST inclusive)
Youth, individuals aged under 21 – $10 ($10.90 GST inclusive)
Master, individuals aged over 55 – $5 ($5.45 GST inclusive)
Persons with disabilities – $5 ($5.45 GST inclusive)
