All information on this page applies exclusively to Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents, and players with a Singapore flag in their FIDE profile. Foreign participants should refer to the rules and regulations outlined in the FIDE Calendar and follow the prescribed procedures for participation.
Under the auspices of ASEAN Chess Confederation (ACC), Chess Global Cities has the honour of inviting participants from ASEAN members (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam & Timor Leste) and all its Dialogue Partners (Australia, China, China-Hong Kong, China-Macau, India, Japan, New Zealand, Russia, South Korea and, USA) as well as Chinese Taipei and Mongolia to participate in the 24th ASEAN+ Age-Group Chess Championships to be organised in Singapore from 7th to 17th August.

2.0 Eligibility
2.1 Players from the countries and territories listed above shall have the right to participate and they shall be responsible for all their expenses.
2.2 There shall be 16 categories for Juniors, which are Under-6, Under-8, Under-10, Under-12, Under-14, Under-16, Under-18 and Under-20, with separate events for Open and Girls.
2.3 In 2.2 above, the players should not have reached their respective age before 1st January 2026.
2.4 There shall be 2 new categories for 20<50 (Premier for Ratings 2000 and above and Challengers for Under-2000). Such players must have reached aged 20 but not 50 as on 1st January 2026.
2.5 There shall be 4 categories for Seniors, which are Seniors > 50 and Seniors > 65 for Open and Women, respectively. Players who qualify for Seniors>50 must be born before or in the year 1976, and for Seniors>65 they must be born before or in the year 1961.
2.6 The ACC reserves the right to merge categories in case of insufficient entries.
3.0 Time Control
3.1 Standard Chess: Each player has 90 minutes plus increment of 30 seconds per move from move 1. Default time is 25 minutes.
3.2 Rapid Chess: Each player has 25 minutes to finish. Default time is 25 minutes.
3.3 Blitz Chess: Each player has 5 minutes to finish. Default time is 5 minutes.
4.0 Pairings
4.1 The Championships shall be conducted using the Swiss Manager Program for pairings and shall be in accordance with the Playing Rules of FIDE. (Forbidden Pairings will NOT be used).
5.0 Tie-Break
5.1 Direct Encounter, Buchholz Cut 0, Buchholz Cut 1 & 2, Sonneborn Berger.
5.2 Tie-Break will apply to players who are tied for Direct Titles (see No. 8.0)
6.0 Medals
6.1 Medals shall be awarded to the top 5 placings in each event and category.
6.2 Individual Medals: Where there is a tie, not more than 3 players shall receive the same- coloured medal. Not more than 5 medals shall be awarded.
Example:
- If 2 players are tied for first and 2 players are tied for third, then 2 Gold Medals and 2 Bronze Medals shall be awarded, and no Silver Medal will be awarded.
- If 3 players are tied for first, no Silver and Bronze Medals will be awarded.
- If more than 3 players are tied for first, then the 3 highest players based on tie-break shall be awarded the Gold Medals, and no Silver and Bronze Medals will be awarded.
- After awarding the first and second positions, if more than 3 players tied for third, only 3 Bronze Medals will be awarded based on tie-break.
6.3 Team Medals shall be awarded based on the total score of the top three players of a country/territory. In case of a tie, the tie-breaks of each player shall be used to determine the winners.
6.4 There shall be 2 sets of Medals – Overall and ASEAN. If the winner of an event is from an ASEAN federation, the player wins 2 Gold Medals, etc …)
7.0 Appeals Committee
7.1 The Appeals Committee will be appointed during the Technical Meeting. All appeals must be accompanied by a deposit of SGD150 and must be submitted within 15 minutes after the completion of the relevant playing session.

8.1 The Premier (20<50) Category will be run as an international titled tournament, and the Organisers will endeavour the participation of titled players to provide title norm possibilities.
8.2 Prize Fund for Premier
(20<50) Standard: SGD 30,000.
1st SGD 10,000; 2nd SGD 7,000; 3rd SGD 5,000; 4th SGD 3,000;
5thSGD 2,000; 6th SGD 1,000; 7th to 10th SGD 500 each.
8.3 Prize Fund for Challengers
(20<50 Standard): SGD 6,000.
1st SGD 1,200; 2nd SGD 900; 3rd SGD 700; 4th SGD 600;
5th to 6th SGD 500 each; 7th to 10th SGD 400 each.
8.4 All cash prizes are shared equally in case of ties.
8.5 The Rapid and Blitz events for these 2 Categories will be announced later.
9.0 Entry Fee & Registration Fee
9.1 The Registration is inclusive of all three events: Standard, Rapid and Blitz.

9.2 By Registration, non-players will be allowed to attend the Opening Ceremony, Social Evening and Closing Ceremony. They will be allowed to take photograph/video in the Playing Area for the first 10 minutes of each main Playing Session (Standard/Rapid). They will be allowed Gallery Seating during the Playing Sessions. Session Passes are allowed at SGD 20. To attend the Opening Ceremony, Social Evening or Closing Ceremony, the Function Pass is SGD 30 each subject to availability of seats.
9.3 For Seniors, the Entry Fee is SGD 100 and Registration Fee is SGD 150 and is to be paid by 1st June. For Seniors with GM/IM/WGM/WIM title, these fees will be refunded upon playing 9 rounds of the Standard event.
9.4 For Premier (20<50), Entry Fee and Registration Fee are waived for GM & IM >2450, WGM & WIM >2250. Otherwise, they pay only for Registration Fee SGD 150.
10.0 Playing Venue
10.1 The Playing Venue at “Our Tampines Hub”. 1 Tampines Walk #04-01, Singapore 528523.
11.0 Social Evening
11.1 It is a tradition for each country/territory to select representative(s) from among their players to perform a show of their choice. Performers must bring their own musical instrument(s) and/or CDs/DVDs for use in the show. Prizes will be awarded for the best performances.
